Received a grant from Cairns Regional Council & Arts Queensland, to conduct experiments with different surfaces that will become the basis for irregular shaped canvases.
Metal was the first choice, as this substance can be distressed using contemporary printmaking techniques and I was fortunate to explore a variety of techniques with Master Printmaker - Theo Tremblay of Editions Tremblay. http://editionstremblay.com/
The first medium was aluminium – but the etching did not go deep enough. Steel was much more receptive, and we could see where a graphic surface would look great on larger scale sculptural works.
The rust effects were manipulated to be an integral part of the process.
